TEFAF Maastricht 2025

TEFAF, The Mecc, Maastricht, 13-20 March 2025, Stand 619.

Stand highlights
A selection of works by artists from the Blue Rider group in Munich, including a major painting by Alexej Jawlensky, an extremely rare woodcut by Wassily Kandinsky, and an iconic watercolour by Franz Marc.

From another important German expressionist group “Die Brücke” we will show two exceptional images by Erich Heckel and Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, both dated 1909-10, of Fränzi -  the group's most renowned model.

Moving to the contemporary, we will present a group of major works by Bulgarian American artist Christo, including the largescale preparatory work for the famous joint Japan / California project “The Umbrellas” (250 x 100 cm) of 1988.

Representing our specialty in Old Masters will be an outstanding selection of interiors from the second half of the 19th century, including works related to Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam by Johann Heinrich Hintze and Carl Georg Anton Graeb, as well as a design for a sculpture at the Elisenbrunnen in Aachen by Karl Friedrich Schinkel.

Among the women artists on display at our stand, we will exhibit an extensive collection of prints and drawings by Marie Laurencin, the great artist and icon of the modern, independent 20th century woman, including a rare early self-portrait drawing.

Finally, a previously unknown portrait of the philosopher Immanuel Kant will be on display for the first time; a glorifying, romanticising, and yet realistic depiction of the greatest philosopher of modern times discovered 20 years ago.
