18 Cecil Court - Talk for "The Turtle Race"

Talk by Silvia Positano at Emanuel von Baeyer gallery: “A turtle race with a twist - an allegorical painting by an American symbolist in Italy.
This talk at Emanuel von Baeyer gallery is about an allegorical painting by Albert Ernest Harnisch (1843 Philadelphia - 1918 Rome).
The painting dates from the late 1870s, and was most likely in preparation for a series of frescoes intended to decorate the apartment of the American writer, Anne Hampton Brewster (1819-1892), in Rome.
