Sylvia Gosse 1881 - London - 1968 Seated Woman Black and red chalk. Size of sheet: 17.7 x 12.6 cm.

The drawn borders around the image and pin holes in the corners suggest that this quick study of a woman was most likely a preparatory drawing for a portrait painting, or perhaps a print.

The vertical lines behind the sitter and the rendering of the face show similarity with other works by Gosse (see her etching "Seated Woman (Woman reading)").
