Emanuel von Baeyer Gallery is delighted to invite Sarah MacDougall to give a talk alongside our display of works by David Bomberg (1890 Birmingham - 1957 London) in our current exhibition Without Precedence.
18 Cecil Court, London, WC2N 4HE
6 - 8pm, Wednesday 17th September, 2025
Sarah MacDougall, Head of Collections and Special Projects at Ben Uri Gallery and Museum, and co-author of a Bomberg monograph and touring exhibition (2017–18), introduces notable works by the artist in the current display. Her discussion highlights early drawings charting Bomberg's transition to modernism during his most radical period, including his artistic response to Diaghilev’s Ballet Russes, and drawings relating to his official artist’s commission during the First World War. The talk culminates with a discussion of Bomberg’s oil study for his remarkable Second World War commission, Bomb Store.
