Hayward, Eleanor

London-based artist Ellie Hayward (b. 1996) explores the interplay between sculpture and print, with a particular focus on the relationship between 2D and 3D forms. A graduate of The Slade School of Fine Art (2020), her practice delves into the architectural language of space and the theatricality of set design, often transforming everyday spaces and objects into dynamic, abstract compositions.

Hayward’s work is defined by a playful, animated quality, where prints become sculptural and sculptures take on the fluidity of drawings in space. By using casting and printmaking techniques, she creates large-scale works that tower over the viewer, transforming the space and inviting interaction. Drawing from the social and architectural constructs around us, her pieces question how we relate to the spaces we inhabit.

Hayward’s exhibitions include RA Summer Exhibition (2023), London Original Print Fair (2023 & 2024), and Dora House Terrace Sculpture at the Royal Society of Sculptors (2024). She has been awarded several prizes, including the 2024 Gwen May Recent Graduate Award and the 2022 RE International Print Prize.

In addition to her practice, she has participated in residencies, including the Luddite Press Residency in Jersey (2023), and her work has been featured in ShowStudio and Pressing Matters Magazine.
