Sofya Shpurova Exhibitions and Events

Shpurova, Sofya

Sofya Shpurova (b. 1996, Moscow) is a New York-based artist whose work spans painting and sculpture. A graduate of the Slade School of Fine Art in London, her recent exhibitions include Mamoth London, Shoot the Lobster New York, Storage New York, Troy Town London, Holden Gallery Manchester and others.

Shpurova’s imagery is charged with symbols of madness, sanctity, and the Anthropocene, often using her own body as a recurring, depersonalised motif. These works rest in contradiction: between violence and care, humour and dread, repulsion and beauty. They speak not in clear statements, but in echoes—faint traces that ask us to feel before we understand.
