Ulrike Theusner Exhibitions and Events
“I like the idea of the world as a theatre, each drawing is a little stage, a cosmos of its own, a space where something is offered, and ideally, carried forward in the viewer’s mind.”
Ulrike Theusner (b.1982, Frankfurt/Oder) is a German artist whose work spans works on paper, chalk and pastel drawings and the great deal of printmaking.
Educated at the Bauhaus University in Weimar and the École des Beaux-Arts in Nice, Theusner has exhibited widely in solo and group shows across Europe, the US, and Asia, including in Berlin, Paris, New York, and Shanghai.
Theusner’s recent printed oeuvre is here presented, featuring the tropes and motifs which have haunted her work from 2006 to now: political turmoil, ghosts, rituals and false idols; broken idylls, the fragmentation of society, and the many possible reactions of the individual to such spiritual and societal homelessness.
