Nicholas Williams Exhibitions and Events
‘I work from life because when I see images in my mind they never have the characteristics of photography. Painting from life is as close as I can get to realising images as I first see them.’
Nicholas C. Williams is an English painter whose work delves into the complexities of human behavior, using symbolism and direct observation to convey deep narratives.
His artistic journey began at Richmond College in London, and since then, he has become a notable figure in the contemporary art scene. With numerous solo exhibitions at prestigious venues like the Russell-Cotes Museum and Liverpool Cathedral, his work has been celebrated for its rich emotional depth and technical prowess.
“Point,” the central piece in a series focused on the uncertainties of our post-trust age. In this piece, Williams grapples with the nature of accusatory behavior—often hidden behind masks—and the role social media plays in normalizing such actions. The two-faced plastic mask featured in the artwork symbolizes the mass production of these facades, urging viewers to consider the implications of anonymity and identity in today’s world.
In addition to this work, we’re also showcasing “What Is It You Pray For, III” stands as a reminder of our shared experiences in times of reflection and hope. This piece is one of three concluding portraits from the series, each inviting viewers to pause and connect with their own sense of spirituality and contemplation.
